What to buy

All you need are the relevant text books and revise guides. Many students don't buy their own text books and rely on revise guides; I suggest this is a false economy!

Text Books: Some exam boards recommend books, some don't. Here's the information that I've found out:

AQA
AQA have done a deal with the publisher Nelson Thorne who have produced materials designed around the particular AQA syllabuses. That doesn't mean that other publishers aren't producing relevant products, but you might as well get the ones they recommend. Here's the list with ISBN numbers:

Core Science
J. Breithaupt et. al. (2006) AQA Science – GCSE Science, Nelson Thornes. ISBN 0-7487-9634-7
Revision Guide: Specification A 0-7487-8309-0
Revision Guide: Specification B 0-7487-8310-6

Additional Science
Text Book: 0-7487-9638-0
Revision Guide: 0-7487-8311-3

Year 11 Additional Science J. Breithaupt et. al. (2006) AQA Science – GCSE Additional Science, Nelson Thornes. ISBN 0-7487-9638-X

Triple Science

A. Fullick (2006) AQA Science – GCSE Biology, Nelson Thornes. ISBN 0-7487-9641-X P. Fullick (2006) AQA Science – GCSE Chemistry, Nelson Thornes. ISBN 0-7487-9644-4
Breithaupt (2006) AQA Science – GCSE Physics, Nelson Thornes. ISBN 0-7487-9647-9

You may be able to get revision guides at a reduced price from school.

Edexcel

Edexcel don't appear to have done a special deal with a particular publisher, but they do endorse many products. Those from Hodder Murray are mentioned, so here are the details of their products:
