Links to useful websites

If you have a text book written for your syllabus, you can get a top grade just by learning what is in it and studying specimen exam papers. So why look for more information on the internet? Firstly, it's more interesting, with animations and videos, for example. Secondly, a website may explain something in a different way that makes more sense to you than your textbook. Certainly, if you are at all interested in science, then 'reading around' the subject is important.

I've divided these links into two categories - sites written for GCSE revision and those containing interesting information that could be useful for GCSE science.

But first, here's a video which I think is important - about the importance of science, especially in education.

GCSE sites (all free access)

BBC Bitesize - contains the basic facts for most syllabuses and some useful questions.
Skool - top class descriptions and animations.
S-cool - also very good, though the animations are not quite so friendly.
Revisioncentre - just text descriptions - worth a visit if you don't get what you want from the Big three above.
Gcsescience.com - for Chemistry and Physics only. Frankly, it's a mess.

creative-chemistry.org.uk - some useful chemistry worksheets and revision notes for AQA.
docbrown's chemistry site - a bit messy, but some good info if you're prepared to look for it.

Other science sites

There are thousands of relevant sites. I've described what I consider to be the most useful. You may need to search around for the best articles, videos and animations. Don't be put off by what you first see - investigate!

Schoolscience - excellent, up to date site particularly relevant to GCSE science. Some great animations.
science-interactive.co.uk - great collection of power-point presentations for GCSE

WikiPedia - aiming to include all knowledge. Can be a bit advanced for GCSE, but there are lots of links to more information which are worth following. Always worth a look.
How stuff works - does what it says.
