Edexcel Separate Sciences (Triple Science)

About this course

The separate sciences (triple science) consist of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. For each of the sciences there are three sections, B1, B2 and B3 for Biology, and so on for Chemistry and Physics.
B1, C1 and P1 cover the same content as that in Core Science.
B2, C2 and P2 cover the same content as that in Additional Science. To gain GCSEs in the individual sciences, extra modules (extension units) need to be taken (B3, C3 and P3), which are described on this page.

There is a choice for the extension unit - students can be assessed by a centre-devised internal assessment or by traditional written papers. You can mix the assessment methods up; for example, you could be assessed externally for the GCSE Biology extension units and internally for GCSE Chemistry extension units and GCSE Physics extension units - another choice that you should be aware of.

The centre-devised internal assessment will be set by the centre and assessed using criteria provided by Edexcel. Do make sure you know which you are doing!
