Edexcel Science (2101)

About the course

This is the course normally taken in year 10. It consists of internally assessed practical skills and externally assessed written papers.

Internal assessment (40%)

1. Assessment of practical skills (10%), where the teacher is assessing the student’s ability to follow instructions, collect data (by taking readings and measurements, making observations and by using ICT) and to present their raw results. Not moderated.

2. Three assessment activities (3 x 10%), devised by Edexcel, marked by the teacher and externally moderated by an examiner appointed by Edexcel.

Modules (60%) - externally assessed

Six 20-minute tests covering the twelve topics. You don't have to take all modules at the same tier (higher or foundation).
